Toronto, Canada 2023
This summer I finally got the chance to visit Toronto again, and join the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey School. It is four years since I was here last time, the Covid 19 stopped my participation the years between. I will share with you these days, with great help of my parents that will take the pictures throughout the almost three weeks we will stay here.
June 29 - the travel to Canada
Early morning on the 29th of June we flew from Oslo, via Copenhagen and directly to Toronto. It took only about ten hours and we arrived in Canada. We were lucky and got upgraded so it became a very pleasant flight.
June 30, hockey shopping eldorado
I had almost grown out of all my hockey gear so we came over with very little equipment. We knew there are a number of hockey stores loaded with stuff, and all the new releases. We bought everything except sticks, helmet and skates at Pro Hockey Life, and got really good help there.
July 1, Hockey Hall of fame & Sightseeing the city
Toronto is definitely the Hockey Capital of the World. Here you find Hockey Hall of Fame where the history of hockey, the legends the teams are mixed with funny hockey activities. Hockey appears everywhere in this huge city, and you can`t almost visit a cafe or a restaurant without seeing the ties to hockey. It seems more like a religion, and even the news are full of hockey even now in mid-summer.
Today is Canada day, and the City is so crowded. Maybe natural- since there are about 7,5 mill people living in the greater Toronto area, and most people had the day off. The line-up for the Toronto Maple Leafs Team Shop in Scotiabank Arena was hundreds of meter long so we were happy we have many other days to go there. Little sad though, because we had ambitions to see Toronto Blue Jays vs Boston Red Sox in baseball (MLB) but there were no tickets left and we are talking about an arena with almost 100 000 seats. Not to worry, there are more games before we leave. We have booked tickets for a game the 14th.
July 2 - Toronto Zoo
Toronto Zoo is one of the worlds biggest zoo, and you can walk through all the different continents of the world. It is a full day and about 16 km to walk through it all, but it is worth it!
On the way back we took a detour to my dads house in Scarborough, where he lived in 1998-99.
July 3 - 8, Hockey Camp Toronto Maple Leafs
This week I participated in the Maple Leafs Camp which took place in TML training facility in Ford Performance center. Nice to meet coaches from 2019 - still around, specially Greg Schell. I let the photoes tell the story.
July 3 - Toronto Argonauts vs BC Lions Vancouver
July 8-11, Kingston - Ottawa - St Marie - Wasaga Beach - Barrie - Toronto
On the 8th we took off for a trip to Ottawa. We drove north to Kingston and visited Ft Henry. This was a fortress buildt in 1837 to protect the naval dockyard at Point Frederick and the entrance of the Rideau Canal.
Photoes from the trip
12-16 July - back in Toronto
Great evening in Rogers Center with MLB between Toronto Blue Jays and Arizona Diamond Backs
Canadas Wonderland
Quick math showed us that only a two days visit would cost more than season passes in this great Amusement Park. Mom and Dad also went up here to swim and relax while I was training during the first week.
Other nice activities during the last week in Toronto
15 of July - and an adventure of a trip came to an end
